4 People Places In Austin That Fido Will Love, Too

Dog FriendlyOf course there are loads of “dog places” to enjoy with your canine companion (pet boutiques, dog parks, the list goes on) – but for those of us who like to bring our attention-craving pups everywhere, there’s a huge difference between establishments that simply allow your friendly four-legged friends to tag along and those that make a point of making them (and you) feel welcome. Some restaurants go the extra mile with drool-worthy patios, while other businesses serve up treats or are chock full of dog-loving staff members who fawn over your pooch.

Maya Star

Although most SoCo shops are dog-friendly, Maya Star is my favorite. From a human perspective, it’s a fantastic store: trendy clothes/accessories by independent designers, an impressive gift selection, and a constant gaggle of gals ready to help with your every style selection. For a dog, just walk in the doors and you’re greeted by a whole pack of new friends who shower you with affection while your human browses the racks.

As Austin Grows, Homes for Sale in Round Rock TX Fly off the Shelves

The best thing about living in sunny Austin, Texas? Smart home buyers will tell you it’s all about living just outside the city. While everyone and their brother seems to be moving to Austin, the outlying cities, like Round Rock Texas, are actually growing just as quickly. A report from KVUE earlier this month even stated that “Williamson County is said to be the fastest growing county in America.” And it’s no wonder, as an average of nearly 400 homes for sale in Round Rock TX have been snagged every day this year!

But why all this excitement about Round Rock real estate? For one, buying a house in Round Rock Texas is a great investment. Just last week, an article from Forbes pointed out Round Rock’s Williamson County on “RealtyTrac’s list of Top 25 “Hidden Gem” Counties in the US.” So that means even those homebuyers in the investor category, who are planning to rent out their properties, can find something to love about Round Rock real estate.

For homebuyers looking to raise their families and live the Austin … read more

Facebook’s Transformation, A Marketing Perspective

If your business is anything like ours, we know how you feel. You’ve been waking up in cold sweats from nightmares about losing your “Like”-gating (exclusive content only your fans can access) and stressing about the death of your welcome page. Or, maybe worse, you haven’t started looking into it quite yet, and March 30th is slowly creeping up on you to take over your brand with the infamous Timeline.

But we figure, if you can’t fight em’ (and you can’t…just ask the Winklevoss twins!), you may as well join ‘em. So let’s go over a few key points for moving forward as a brand in the new world of Facebook. We’ll start with what we think are the most important things for you to know before the big transition.

First off, the best news we have for you is that, with the new Facebook, you can interact with fans privately, instead of just on your wall! That means you can contact contest winners more easily, deal with inappropriate or negative comments instead of just deleting them from your wall, … read more

Interior Decorating Ideas: 3D Wall Art Brings Your Rooms to Life

Interior decorating is about so much more than finding the right place for furniture and accessories. As with all great artists, the best interior decorators find inspiration in the unusual. Every wall is an opportunity to go where no decorator has gone before.

So, when you’re thinking about redecorating or you’re designing a room for the first time, you may wonder, “Where do I begin?” At Durant Design, we love to start with the perfect focal point. For as long as mankind has had the “hearth and home,” we’ve been gathering in rooms with meaningful centerpieces, from cozy fireplaces to fantastic works of art.

When you choose that one image that speaks to you, why not bring it to life in the most unexpected way? Instead of assuming every art piece is destined to be two-dimensional, imagine limitless possibilities. Here at the Durant Design studio, we know better than to think anything is impossible.

That’s why we’ve come up with a truly innovative approach to displaying art and graphics. We call it Les Niveaux, which means “levels” in French, and … read more

Zhi Tea Launches Food Menu with Local Faire

press release

AUSTIN, TX – (May 14, 2012) – Zhi Tea, Austin’s go-to for premium organic tea, launches a new menu with offerings from Texas grocers, bakeries, and arms. Curated to complement Zhi’s extensive tea collection, the menu features organic fruit from Greenling, cheese plates from Pure Luck Farm and Dairy, Texas pecans from Rio Grande Organics, Grandma’s Hummus, local handmade treats from The Chocolate Makers Studio, and selections from Rockstar Bagels.

“We based the new menu on customer requests we’ve gathered over the years and our own snacking styles. For this petite menu, we chose healthy, simple, yet elegant plates to complement our teas. We’re happy to suggest a plate that pairs perfectly with your tea selection and vice versa,” said Jeffrey Lorien, CEO of Zhi Tea.

The addition of small plates and a la carte menu items to Zhi Tea’s offerings transforms the East Austin tasting room into a bona fide zen cafe, where patrons can enjoy a freshly brewed cup of hot or iced tea along with their favorite local faire.

“We are so looking forward to sharing the … read more

Places You’ll Go – Dr. Seuss Style Poem

creative writing

Although high school is ending, it’s hard to believe
That in a few weeks we will all really leave.
So the time has now come to look back and reflect,
For our minds to unfold and our thoughts to collect.

And I opened a drawer full of things I had done –
Full of work I had toiled, awards I had won.
I poured me some water and gulped down a glug,
And I sat myself down on the living room rug.

Then I thought about which things had helped me to grow,
What had forced me to learn all the things that I know.
For the girl who was me when I started ninth grade
Has over the past years been mostly remade.

So I’ll now do my best to precisely make clear
All the things that enveloped my high school career.
And you may wonder why I am speaking in rhyme,
With my meter in check and my rhythm in time.

But I’ve found for myself that it’s been best to look
At my insights as shown through … read more
